Top Five Dirty-Cheap Cheating Methods

Everyone cheats in some way. We all can say that at some point, we searched around for some cheat codes. Almost everyone knows what "up up down down left right left right B A Start" is for. It's for Contra if you don't. However, cheating 22 years ago isn't exactly the same now.

Yeah we still have the same general button input method, but there are a few new methods. Granted, these five methods are mainly used on first person shooters, but could you see any reason someone would want to modify Dr. Mario Online Rx or 1 vs. 100?

#5 Super Bouncing

Halo 2 at it's finest, right!? Anyone who owned it experienced becoming a target of sniping from someone 150 feet above you. Super Bouncing (or as some called Super Jumping) was just a minor annoyance, however. If you knew what to look for, then you had the chance of foiling the cheater's plans by sniping them down from their spots.

#4 Under Map/Out of Map

On the other hand, out of map or under map would be a little harder to recover from. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare held the trophy for these. Hiding behind a building off in the distance or under the map would be a cheater impossible to see. You could also include the several places that a normal person would never think of trying to get on top of (i.e. a building with no entrance/stairs, laying down on a thin sheet metal fence, a stairway railing, on top of a flaming barrel, and more).

#3 Stand By-ing

In general, this could go for any game that requires an internet connection. This method requires the intentional, temporary pausing of cheater's own connection, either by pulling the ethernet cable for a while or hitting a stand-by button. This forces other players either to have a "Re-connecting" screen or to have no control of the character. All this, while the culprit on stand by comes in to get the kills.

Experts (*ahem*, "experts") at stand by-ing may simply cause their own connection to be better, making it seem normal if not slightly fishy. In other words, the signal coming in becomes slower than the signal going out for him. So, your shotgun to his character's face didn't register as fast as his melee to your character's back.

#2 Modded Controllers

COD4: Modern Warfare, COD: World at War, and Halo 3 take the blame here. There are other games that it could be used for, but these three are where modded controlles are mainly used. They are more obvious and can be spotted easily when it comes to Call of Duty, but it's been shown where modded controllers can improve a gamer's accuracy (or I should say the character's accuracy) in Halo 3.

These modded controllers sport either a modified right or left trigger, or an additional button. When held down, the modified button emulates a player pulling the trigger, letting go, and pulling the trigger again, over and over. Remember when SNES had turbo controllers? Yeah, like that. This means semi-automatic weapons in Call of Duty (G3, M1A1, pistols) can shoot just as fast as fully automatic weapons. Fully automatic weapons (COD and Halo 3) become more accurate than normal. In general, the first initial bullet fired from a fully automatic weapon is the most accurate. The controller helps make every bullet seem like the first initial bullet.

#1 Aim-bots

These are most prevalent with PC shooters. Games such as Half-Life Deathmatch, Counter Strike, COD, Battlefield, and more have seen these a time or two. Aim-bots are programs added to a game that decode a map and what's in it; specifically the other players' characters. The aim assisting program then directs the cheater's crosshairs on one of the other players heads. All the cheater has to do is fire. Other bots (aka Trigger-bots) fire the weapon for the cheater when they are aiming at an enemy. Even though aim-bots are mainly used on PC, someone with enough time may be able to place one on the Xbox 360 or PS3.

However, as of now... this is why I play the Xbox 360 versions.

So there are the five dirty-cheap cheating methods. Why are we calling them dirty and cheap? Well, because they are. These methods are spawned from minds of people who have no lives. These people do nothing, but find ways to fall through the map or get to an area that was never meant to be accessible. These people will go as far as altering the game just to win.

They didn't punch in any code. This isn't just cheating. It's cheating beyond cheating. I'm sorry to say, but these methods have no honor in them and deprives you of your talent if you choose to use one of them. MLG and GameBattles have strict rules and policies against cheating. That simple fact proves that cheaters are not professional gamers by any means.
